Non-Residential EVSE Rebates

What are the benefits of this program?

The EVSE Rebates program is designed to support AES Indiana business customers in their EV fleet transition by providing financial assistance on some or all qualified EVSE installation costs supporting Public Use EVs (please see Section 1. Definitions).

What type of charging stations are right for my property?

When considering which types of chargers are best for your business’ fleet, note that there are two types of chargers eligible for rebate in this program, Level II and Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFC). Level II requires 240-volt (V) power and is generally used in locations where you are parked for at least an hour in duration. DCFC requires 480V power and is ideal for charging times that are less than 1 hour.  The type of charger best for your fleet will depend on the types of EVs in your fleet, how long they need to charge, and how they operate on a daily basis. We recommend completing a comprehensive fleet analysis [Fleet Solutions Link] to determine the best charging stations for your property and EV fleet. The applicant attests that EV chargers will follow this program’s Public Use EV Requirement (please see Section 1. Definitions)

Can I install EV chargers for my customers?

To be eligible for the EV Charging Rebates program for businesses, the program requires that the chargers to be primarily used for Public-Use electric vehicles. Public Use EVs are defined as vehicles used primarily to deliver goods or services to the public, such as: school buses transit buses, or other vehicles providing goods or services to the public. EV charging for personal-use vehicles, such as at multi-family or public locations, is not eligible.

Why isn’t my preferred charger on the qualified product list (QPL)?

In order for your preferred charger to be included on the qualified product list, the product manufacturer or vendor must submit a satisfactory application to demonstrate that the product meets the program’s QPL requirements. Please have them email [email protected] to request a copy of these requirements. We will publish a refreshed QPL annually.

Who can help me design my project?

Many of the approved charging vendors, as well as engineering and electrical contracting firms can help you design your project. If you aren’t sure where to start, we recommend checking out the Indiana EVITP directory of certified contractors.

How can I join the qualified contractor/trade ally list?

There is no trade ally list for this program. Customers can work with any contractor, as long as the contractor is properly licensed for the work performed. The City and County of Indianapolis and Marion requires most electrical work to be completed by an electrical contractor licensed by the Department of Business and Neighborhood Services. For other jurisdictions, please check requirements with the local building permit office. Customers may also consider selecting contractors who have received specific EV charging certification through the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program.

Do I have to submit a pre-application?

Yes. The pre-application allows us to reserve funding for your project before you complete the installation process. As funds are awarded to qualified applicants on a first-come, first serve basis, having a pre-application is essential to ensuring rebate funds will be available to you by the time you have completed EVSE installation. If you do not have an approved pre-application, your post-installation application cannot be accepted.

How do I submit an application?

Submit an application at aesindianabusiness.clearesult.com

I submitted an application, why haven’t I received my reservation?

The usual time for processing and delivering the reservation letter is 2-3 weeks, but it can take longer when we receive many applications at the same time, or if there is an issue with the application. Sometimes when we send a request for information or the reservation letter, it lands in your spam or junk box. Please check there and add [email protected] to your approved senders so you’ll be sure to receive the email.
